For consignors

How to consign

Never done a consignment sale before? It can feel a little overwhelming at first, but we've got you. Here's the whole process, start to finish, with answers to the questions we hear most.

How does Duck Duck Goose work?

1

Create an account

First time with us? You'll create an account and get a Consignor ID, a number unique to you that ties every item back to your account.

2

Register for a sale

Each sale has a limited number of consignor spots. Log in and register for the sale you want to join.

3

Prepare your items

Make sure everything is washed and clean. Items that look neat and pressed sell!

4

Price your items

Every item needs a unique barcode. Log in, enter basic info about each item, and pick your price, the system generates the barcode for you.

5

Drop off your items

Bring your items to the sale location during the specified drop-off times, and our friendly staff will guide you through the process.

6

Watch your sales

Check your sales live as the sale happens! Every time an item sells, your sales summary updates so you can see your money grow.

7

Pick up your check

After the sale, come back to pick up your check, and any items that didn't sell.

๐Ÿ’ต How much does it cost?

Consignors make 65% of their sales! Duck Duck Goose charges a consignment fee of 35%, and only after an item sells. After the 35% is taken, a $12.50 participation fee is deducted from each consignment check, this fee helps advertise the event so your items sell. You keep the rest! Please see our participation agreement for full terms and conditions.

๐Ÿ‘ค Creating an account

If you've never consigned with us before, you'll need to create an account. Once you have one, you can use it to register for all of our future sales. After registering, we'll assign you a unique Consignor ID, it's printed on each of your items, and we use it to sort items after each sale.

๐Ÿ”‘ Logging in

You can log in from a computer, tablet, or mobile device. You'll need to be logged in to register for sales, price items, and view your sales summaries.

๐Ÿ“ Registering for sales

Once you're logged in, you can register for an upcoming sale. Spots are limited, so register as soon as you can! It's important to register for each sale so your items are assigned to the specific sale you'll be participating in.

If a sale is closed because it's full, keep checking back, if another consignor can't participate, she can un-register, which opens a spot for someone else.

๐Ÿงบ Preparing items

First, review our guidelines on what items we accept to make sure your items meet our criteria. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask!

All clothing should be neatly attached to hangers, we have specific ways to do this, so visit our pricing & tagging page for exact instructions.

We can't over-emphasize it: presentation is everything when it comes to giving your items the best chance to sell. Spending a little extra time making sure items are clean, ironed, and placed neatly on hangers really makes a difference!

๐Ÿท Pricing and tagging items

One of the toughest decisions you'll make as a consignor is pricing. We have an entire page devoted to pricing and tagging with suggestions and best practices. You'll also get to decide whether each item can sell for half price during the half-price portion of the sale, and whether to donate unsold items to charity when the sale ends.

Quick tip: As you enter items into the tagging system, keep them in order. Tags print in the order you entered them, so keeping the same order helps you put the right tag on the right item.

Our tagging instructions also cover how to attach tags so they don't come off during the sale, if an item loses its tag, it more than likely won't sell. You'll find best practices for shirts, dresses, pants, shoes, and socks, plus recommendations for baby equipment, furniture, and toys. Not sure how to tag something? Just reach out and ask!

๐Ÿš— Dropping off your items

Quick note: We can only accept items during the specified drop-off times for each sale. We're unable to accommodate exceptions.

Before leaving home, group your items by gender and size, rubber bands, ribbon, or trash bags all work. It saves you real time at drop-off.

When you arrive, bring your items into the building, where one of our friendly representatives will greet you. Rolling racks are available to help bring in clothing (during the busiest times there may be a short wait for a rack). You're also welcome to bring items in boxes, bins, wagons, strollers - however is easiest for you!

Inside, a check-in representative will look through your items for stains, holes, missing buttons, broken zippers, overly worn pieces, and recalled items. We know it's easy to accidentally miss a small stain, so we catch those before items hit the racks, anything outdated, stained, or a little overused won't sell, and we'll return it to you during drop-off.

Next you'll head to a computer station where we officially check you in. Bring one of your items with you, we'll scan it, verify your contact information, and print your pick-up pass. The pick-up pass is required to pick up your check and any items that didn't sell, so keep it safe!

Finally, you'll place your items out on the sales floor, using the signs to sort by gender and size. Once everything is on the floor, you're done, we'll see you on shopping day!

Quick note: If a last-minute schedule conflict means you can't drop off your items, it's fine to send a mother, husband, or friend in your place. To best protect your items and your pick-up pass, please email information@duckduckgoosesale.com to let us know who will be dropping off for you.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Checking your sales

Now we're talking! Watching your items sell is one of the best parts of every Duck Duck Goose sale. While the sale is happening, each time one of your items sells, your sales summary updates to show how many items have sold and how much money you're making!

Your online sales summary is informational while the sale is running, we'll give you an official sales summary at pick-up.

๐Ÿ’Œ Check and item pickup

After the sale, come back to pick up your remaining items and your check for everything that sold! Bring the pick-up pass you received at drop-off, it's a safety measure to make sure your check and items go home with you.

Quick note: You must pick up your items during the designated pick-up period. We have to move out of the building, so all items not picked up during the designated period are donated to a local charity. If you don't pick up your check, we'll send it to you by postal mail.
